After a few days with an itch to write and no laptop to write on I am so happy to finally be sharing the progress pics for the #376farmhouse! This is my family's new home and I am so excited to be moving in in just a few days! I got to pick out so many design choices for this house and feel so lucky to have my parent's trust so that that could happen! This has been a major labor of love with my parents and I am relieved beyond belief that it turned out so well and we're able to move in so quickly! Let's start right after the beginning, the beginning being around the Spring of this year, to August when the siding had gone up and the major interior elements were being decided on and installed.. As you all know I love having cute little nicknames for my projects, whether it's a DIY project or a home renovation one, I love coming up with hashtags that make it easier for me to find pictures or reference where I'm at or maybe what a certain #inspo pic on Instagram is for. The name #376Farmhouse is kind of a simple one; it's the numbers from our new address and the style of the home that we went for - modern farmhouse. I know, everyone is doing it and it's a little trendy but hey, it totally works! It's a good medium style that doesn't push to far into the ultra sleek and edgy world of modern design but it doesn't rely too heavily on the whole "rustic farmhouse" details that have been around for years. It's a very comfortable style that makes it easier to transition from traditional design elements to more contemporary ones, some of which you'll see in this space! One of these elements that I am totally obsessed with is the accordion patio door in the Master Bedroom. It opens up all the way so that when you want, you can get a totally unobstructed breeze of fresh air coming into your space. It's a stunning detail that everyone we have showed the house to immediately "ooohs" and "ahhhs" at! And isn't that the goal in every space? To have that ooh and ahh moment from your friends and family?? Another really cool detail is the shiplap accent in the Master bedroom as well as the stairway leading to the downstairs common area! Another idea by my Step-dad, Tom, that totally took the house to the next level! The best part about the material he choose is that it's glossy and smooth! Totally different than the usual rustic shiplap look, it makes it so enjoyable to glide your hand over as you make your way downstairs. Plus - no chance of splinters! The extremely open and vaulted ceilings in the family room upstairs really make the house feel bigger than it is! It's a great way to "add space" to a home without having to expand the rooms width wise. Vertical space is just as important! The ceilings are about 10 feet throughout the house which really makes a difference when it comes to roominess and how large the house feels! If you are building a new home anytime soon then definitely keep ceiling height in mind! The stone fireplace and the extra large fan really finish off this space and make it feel cozy and welcoming. Which is great cause it is the first space you walk into in the house! Now the kitchen...my word I could go on and on about this kitchen! For now, I'll give you a quick look over and once we are settled in, I will do a more detailed post on every gorgeous detail of this space! I had so much fun helping pick out the lights, the glass tile backsplash and the cabinet colors. I think they all came together so well! And that countertop? Oh yeah, that has a beautiful leathered finish on it that feels so unique and so cool I can't even explain it with enough justice! The simple and clean lines and colors in this space will make it great for entertaining as well as everyday use. The lights are my favorite, although I'm a little biased since I picked them out! Although they don't match now, they will once we have the dining light re-ordered (shoutout to Wayfair customer service!) I wanted the lights to match the modern farmhouse vibes we were going for and also provide enough contrast to stand out on their own but also not detract too much attention from the cabinetry and kitchen layout itself. I think it compliments it perfectly! Okay okay, I am totally biased but I'm just going to keep repeating myself by saying I have another stunning detail to show y'all from the house; the Master bath! I'll let the pictures speak for themselves, just check out that stand alone tub and all.that.MARBLE! This space had been covered up for most of the building process but I promise to do a feature on this room as well! Okay, now it's time to make our way downstairs! Deciding to put the "kids" rooms aka my brother and I's rooms, downstairs opened up the opportunity to really make this a private little space for us, which of course, I love! I swear they are just making it harder to leave on purpose at this point! With a kitchenette, our own private baths, a lower patio area, and a separate entrance coming down from the upper detached garage, how on Earth am I ever gonna leave now?? I have so many ideas for my bedroom, as you all know if you caught my previous post where I share all of my favorite inspiration pics for my space, and I am just itching to get in there and get to decorating!
A couple other cool spots include the laundry room and part of the exterior patio and walkways! The laundry room floor is literally my baby brain child, I picked out the tile as well as the pattern and it ended up looking so gorgeous against the gray cabinets, I seriously am obsessed! I will never get tired of a little herringbone action! Check it out below! Okay y'all! If you made it this far then major props to you! Thanks for checking out all the behind the scenes pics for the #376Farmhouse. I love that I'll always have this digital "photo album" of almost the entire process of building this special home! I love sharing my life with y'all and I hope you'll continue to follow along not only with my journey in interior decor (and now DESIGN!) but the little old journey of this new space! My brain is chalk full of ideas and next week I'll get to start bringing them to life! Can't wait to show you..make sure you're following my Youtube for my very first homeware haul (how exciting??), my Instagram, and my Facebook! Yes, you CAN literally find my anywhere on the internet :)
