Mustard yellow may seem like another one of those bright and intimidating colors but when it comes to interior decorating it is such a classic! I have always been drawn to this shade of yellow because it's warm, it has an inherently vintage vibe and it's just a happy color! Check out a few of my favorite inspiration pictures for this color below and I'll tell you how I would blend this color into any space!
The Details
1. It's a little bit mustard yellow, it's a little bit golden..oh and it's all velvet! I think that this shade of yellow goes with velvet like peanut butter goes to jelly! I'm a little bit biased because if you know me then you know I love a good velvet piece (especially if it's furniture) but I especially love it in this yellow-y goodness because of the vintage vibes it has! So furniture is always a good go to when decorating with this color in my book.
2 & 3 & 4. (Sorry I couldn't choose just one!) I think that throw pillows and blankets are perfect temporary ways to add mustard, or really any new color, to a space! Try some fun new shapes and textures with your pillows to change things up! 5. When you can't find that perfect vintage velvet piece, you can always turn to stores like Wayfair or Homegoods for that fun accent piece! Check out thistufted arm chair from Wayfair! 6. Turn an old home accent into a fun DIY project by jazzing it up with a fresh coat of paint! Mustard yellow will give your space a classic and unexpected look. 7. A good note for mustard yellow would be to remember that navy is one of its best complimentary colors! The deep blue will give enough contrast to this color to help it pop but also not be an eyesore. Try throwing in some neutrals such as grey and white to the mix for a knockout combo! 8. With the warm tones from the hardwood floors and the white wainscoting to break up the bright pop of yellow, this space is classic and lively without being overwhelming! 9. A really subtle way of incorporating this warm color in your space would be to feature it in some intricately detailed tiles! Whether you use these as coasters (DIY them of course!) or as your kitchen backsplash, you really can't go wrong!
