Sometimes my week gets so busy that I don't stop to think about taking time to just relax. I love trying out new beauty products and I am a true sucker for any excuse to have a "face mask and chill" kind of night. The weather for NC has been up and down and pretty much all over the place! One day it's Spring, the sun us shining, my skin is soaking up all the Vitamin D it can get, and the next day it legit starts to snow! With temperatures in the low 50's and a windchill that would keep anyone wanting to stay indoors and in bed, I think it's time to share some of my favorite beauty products for a relaxing night indoors as well as how to set up your bathroom space to feel more like a spa than ever before. Make sure you are following my Pinterest as well! I post a lot of inspiration pictures there, like the ones above, to get me excited for my "Spa Nights!" My Favorite Products
If you can't already tell, I'm a girl who loves to have super moisturized skin! I carry half a dozen chapsticks on my person at all times, as well as have 2 or 3 hand lotions in rotation. So when my scalp was resembling a dandruff-y mess last Winter I knew I needed to explore other options besides a good shampoo and conditioner. That's when I found this Shea Moisture Shea Oil. It worked wonders on my scalp (I put it on on the nights before I knew I was going to be washing my hair the next day) and once it did the trick, I tucked it away and totally forgot about it. Then this Winter my face started becoming drier and drier and my Clinique lotion wasn't cutting it. Long story short, I rediscovered this gem and began using it in addition to my Clinique lotion and it has helped me so much! I am convinced it has helped calm my break outs and kept my face from not drying out between the weather and my make-up! Highly recommend, like, so highly recommend it's insane! Getting That "Spa" FeelingI only have one major tip to create an instant spa feeling in your bathroom space and that is to invest in a bath tray! I know it seems like a random thing to "invest" in but honestly I always thought that they only looked nice in pictures but would never really benefit me during a bath. Boy was I wrong! They are amazing! I got mine from Bed, Bath & Beyond for about $35.00 and it is a game changer. The middle portion flips up so that I can rest my kindle or an i-pad on to read or to watch Netflix. It has a secret wine caddy so that your beverage of choice (honestly you could put water in a wine glass and still feel fancy as heck) is held securely in place. It is sturdy, it has plenty of room for the essentials, i.e. your favorite candle, a snack, a facemask, anything! Basically, I'm obsessed! Other than picking up a sweet bath tray, I picked up my favorite book at the moment, Big Little Lies, to catch up on as well as a glass of Cab to sip on. I filled my bath with a drizzle of the Philosophy shower gel to make it smell extra tropical and yummy, and I added about 3 scoops of Epsom Salt to totally relax my muscles. The flowers I picked up from Whole Foods provided an aesthetically pleasing view and filled the room with a fresh floral scent that sometimes can't be matched by a candle! Adding fresh florals and greenery throughout your house is always an essential and that doesn't stop when it comes to your bathroom space! Plants are natural air purifiers and honestly, have you ever not smiled being near fresh plants? My advice for creating a spa like atmosphere is to treat yourself to a decadent selection of bath products, maybe add in some bath oils and a bath bomb if you're into those! And a selection of all your other favorite things! Dim the lights and shut the world off! I have also been really into listening to Podcasts, ask anyone who knows me! And closing your eyes and listening to soft music or an educational podcast will help take your mind off of work or any other stresses in your life. Having a spa night for me means to totally unplug from my phone and focus on me. There's nothing like coming out of a bath, rinsing off, lathering up on your lotion and hopping into bed for a good night's rest. Now that I have a handy tray to hold all my goodies and a well rounded beauty routine, I definitely see more spa nights in my future!
