What started out as the original master bedroom for the Hop has now become a handsome, modern second bedroom post renovation. Let's take a look at where it started and cover all the details from top to bottom for this great new space! When Clair and Brandon decided to add on an addition for their master bedroom space they knew that some square footage could come out of the original master in order to create more room to move around in what would become their master closet. I think the design for the original master bedroom was really interesting but definitely lacked space for storage and utilization of the second floor space. Adding a new master bedroom gave them more creative freedom and definitely added a lot of value to the house as well! But enough about the new master (we'll get there eventually!) let's see what the new secondary bedroom looks like after the renovations were complete... This bedroom has a great mix of vintage, mid century flair and more contemporary elements like mixed metals and industrial curtain rods. Since the room doesn't have a lot of space with a queen size bed in it, it was important to keep the rest of the furniture and decor simple and definitely functional as to not waste any inch of space! Repurposing the file cabinet into a dresser was a great way to keep clothes organized but in a sleek, slim way. With stand out pieces such as the filing cabinet dresser and the hairpin leg desk, the room didn't need anything too crazy going on with the wall decor. The ship map as well as the bridge prints were both found at a local yard sale and complimented the furniture without demanding too much attention. It's great to upcycle thrifted pieces such as the filing cabinet because it adds so much character to a space as well as keep renovation costs low!
I was so happy to help with this space and it only got me more motivated to help Clair and Brandon finish decorating the rest of their new home! I hope the owner of this room (my lovely boyfriend actually, what's the point in being vague anymore!) loves his new space! I hope you all enjoyed seeing the first completed room from the Hop!
