Anthropologie homeware has a very special place in my heart. I love their bedding, their kitchen decor and every single coffee table book I've ever laid eyes on in their store. I was very fortunate to be gifted my last comforter from them by my mom (shout out to mom!) Sadly, the material inside my delicate cotton comforter began to sort of shred apart and become very separated and patchy looking. As upset as I was about the thought of giving my bedding up I knew it was only going to get worse! When I found out that Anthro had an absolutely AMAZING return policy I was so relieved! I went into the nearest store and was happily surprised to find the comforter I now own. I love it even more than my old one. It's colorful and the pattern is so bright and fun! I also updated my throw pillows, which came from TJMaxx (another one of my favs) to complete my new bedding set. When I got my new bedding figured out and I was good to go, I of course got the decorating bug and decided to update the rest of my room as well! It was so fun warming my room up and giving it a whole new vibe. My main focus for places such as my sitting nook, my bedside table and my dresser was to pull colors from my comforter. That way it would all look cohesive. I have mentioned that concept before in posts, but I think it will always be my number one advice to people who want to update their spaces; work with your colors! Interior design is about so much more than being matchy-matchy and making sure every single piece you own is perfectly put together. As long as you work with your colors I honestly think the more mismatched the pieces the better! I was so happy to find the shelf pictured below for an awesome deal on a local Buy/Sell/Trade site! I picked it up for just fifty dollars! I have been wanting a shelf like this for a while now because it would compliment my bedside table as well as give me a spot to show off my smaller knick knacks, instead of having them stored in a box or cluttering up my dresser. If you follow me on Instagram you know I recently fell in love with Emily Schuman's book, cupcakes and cashmere at home (available here.) When it came time to put together my shelf I followed a lot of Emily's advice on bookshelf displays. I chose to display things that inspire me such as art books and one of my favorite art pieces I made last year. When filling up a shelf the key is to not over-fill it. Pick and choose the most visually appealing books you have to display as well as a few "smalls" to display on each shelf. I am so happy to finally have these books out of storage from my move back home! I can't say I've gotten through them all yet, but I plan on picking one out one by one and curling up in my nook and reading away now that the weather is finally cooling down again. I had so much fun redecorating my room and making into a space that I feel ten times more comfortable in. I truly enjoyed putting this post together of you all to check out (it might be my favorite one to date!) I've listed similar items to the ones that I picked up in the "Shop this room" section at the end of this post. Let me know if you like this new section for posts! Thanks for reading and I'll talk to you all again soon! -K {Shop this room} Anthropologie bedding Bookshelf Grey throw pillow Coral throw pillows Bedside lamps
