Hello! I'm back! I am so excited to share some snaps from my recent trip to California with y'all. I went with my family for my cousin's wedding and it was the most magical week of my life! No joke- for my first time experiencing California, I couldn't have imagined it going any better than it did. I am so thankful for my family and being able to experience such a great trip with them. Now let's dive into it! San FransiscoSan Fran was so surreal! I have never seen a city like it before. Getting to start the trip off in such an iconic spot was awesome. My dad, brother and I took in a Patriots game at the Connecticut Yankee - the only spot I ever want to watch another Patriots game again, seriously those are where my people are - and then headed straight for the heart of the city. We took a boat trip to see Alcatraz and go under the Golden Gate bridge - highly recommend that by the way! One boat trip allowed us to see so many landmarks in such a short time. If you are only in the city for a couple of days this is the way to go. We stayed in the Fairmont, which was really a treat. It felt very "Eloise at the Plaza" for me - even walking around the hotel felt like an adventure. The hills though...oh my WORD THE HILLS! No one warned me about the steep hills! Except my mom, because moms are always right aren't they? Redwood ForestTaking an afternoon to walk amongst the Redwoods should definitely be on everyone's to-do list when visiting this area of California. We only got to see a small sampling of these gorgeous natural wonders, but it was still such a sight to see. I loved getting back into one of my favorite types of photography, macro nature photography. Capturing the smallest details in between these larger than life trees was a treat! And it was definitely a nice break from the never ending streets of buildings that make up the city. YosemiteAfter exploring San Fran, we headed to Yosemite. We stayed at the Grand Yosemite Hotel and it was just another surreal moment. The hotel is nestled right in the park, with surrounding views of mountains, lush greenery, and crystal clear blue skies. The hotel actually served as major inspiration for the setting of "The Shining," a movie I have yet to see (yeah I know - I need to!) Another nice break from the hustle of the city, it was definitely a park that when walking around in it, gave me an overwhelming sense of feeling so small in such a big, wide world. I loved it, I love getting caught up in those feelings and enjoying more natural wonder of the world. I can see how Ansel Adams truly enveloped himself in his photography when out in Yosemite - every where you look is a "postcard" view. Sonoma ValleyTo end the trip we went to Sonoma Valley for the weekend, the location of the wedding and the cherry on top to the whole week long adventure. I wish we had had more time to relax and enjoy this beautiful area, but I am glad we got even the smallest taste of wine country! The wine was flavorful, rich, just flat out wonderful. We got to visit Benzinger vineyards, one of California's first all natural vineyards. The people were friendly and the wine was delicious. I'm happy I found a way to get their bottles here in NC (thank you Total Wine!) The wedding which wrapped the whole vacation up in the most magical way, was as dreamy as you can imagine a wedding tucked in the rolling hills of California could be and I am so lucky to have been invited! I definitely want to find myself out in Sonoma again soon. I'm putting it into the universe now! California was such an adventure. I can't wait to go back and see more of this wonderful state! Thank you a million times over to my family for making it possible to enjoy such amazing experiences! Reliving the trip through these few snaps has been a great way to spend my Saturday...and it has me itching to get to planning another adventure soon! Stay tuned... :)
