Moving from Wilmington to Chapel Hill has not been the easiest adjustment to say the least. Going from a 800 square foot apartment to a 100 square foot bedroom in my parents house has taken some getting used to. I feel confined to a square that has to function as my bedroom, my escape, my office, and my "hang out with friends" space. It has taken me about a month to get completely unpacked and somewhat settled, which is not something I pride myself on! I haven't felt as invested in this space as I did in my apartment. I feel like I left a lot of my creative freedom back on the coast. But I am still happy to have a new space to call my own, no matter the size! Compared to other homes my parents have had, the bedrooms are usually very standard with built ins and beige walls. I am not a fan of beige walls! So to have a light grey wall color in my new room is so refreshing. I think it will really compliment a lot of pieces I already own and keeps my room mature and simple. I don't want to bombard this room with a million different looks and pieces and just stuff in general. So I've decided to keep it simple and only put out a small amount of decor out for now. It's already a small space, I don't want to make it seem smaller! I found the metal display boxes at an estate sale a few months ago and I love how they look next to some greenery (And yes, that is a real live plant! Not a fake one, finally!). I also think the metal compliments the bronze color of the throw pillows I have on the bed. I like the sophisticated and clean look of having a mostly white space with selective pops and hints of color. I have a beautiful circular mirror that has the same bronze tone to it. It hangs from a large rope and I am excited to get it hung above my dresser to pull that area together a bit more. Mirrors are such a great way to make a small space seem larger!
